In-store shopping
Forgive me but I’m not impressed. All I see is a store that’s ridden the rise and fall of the typewriter industry with no particular effort to remain vibrant and relevant to the times. Sure the technicians do a good job of fixing the machines, but there’s so much more that can be done to not just do an acceptable job, but to excel! If there are no more original decals to be had, why have them fabricated. If rubber platens cannot be sourced locally, source them abroad! Ditto hard to find parts. The shop’s virtually insularized (it’s not even present in the typewriter interest groups on FB) and out of touch with the renaissance of typewriters in the world. Besides, having read all the media coverage the shop has had in the past two years, I find no indication of an actual love for the machine themselves. It was a promise made to the father, yes, but what of the product? Was there love? Sad, but I am not inclined to rewarding a passive ride into the dying of the light with the expected romance. Rage, I say, rage, and so says Dylan Thomas!
