Great place. Very safe diving practices. Good guides and wide choice of sites. Away from the diving, simple tasty food and cheap happy hour cocktails. And obviously loads of close encounters with the threshers as long as you dont mind getting up for a 5am start

We did 8 dives with Thresher Shark Divers. Mark was our DM for every dive, he gave thorough briefings and made a good effort to find the things we wanted to see. We only rented bcds, regulators, and my girlfriend rented a torch from them. All were in good condition, however the quality of the torch was low for the price. I would certainly dive with them again.

Thresher sharks are a professional outfit and very thorough in their teaching, equipment and organisation. Julian (a friendly, sunburnt, Canadian chap) was our excellent teacher and the other members of the team are very good guys.

Excellent dive shop. Good rates, very well organised, CATS! Own thresher cleaning patch dive. DM Kevin was amazing. Highly recommend.

I had a mixed experience with Thresher Shark Divers. Their actual dive operation is top notch, with great dive guides, amazing thresher shark experience, and good crew and captain - I had a lot of fun with the guys on the boats. The dive centre was busy with a lot of training going on, but everyone was friendly and helpful - so really good experience there. However, I also used them to arrange all the travel, transfers and logistics for my trip, and that is where it all went wrong. They manage to get my arrival time wrong, so that when I arrived in the middle of the night at Maya Harbour, the hotel was closed and no one was contactable, which meant I had no where to sleep for the night - simply not acceptable and not safe for a girl travelling alone. They also got the dates for my hotel on the island wrong, and the time for my outbound transfer wrong, so I had to spend my time getting all this resolved when I was in Malapascua. Very poor. And I never got an explanation or an apology. So great diving experience, but please manage all your bookings and transfers yourselves, do not use them for this.

By far the worst dive center I ever dove with. The dive guides/masters do not all seem to get along, resulting in a tense ambience on the boats. They make you rush into the water and thus skip your buddy check. Furthermore, of the 10 dives I did with them, I think I only had 2 decent dive briefings. The worst part is that the whole organization lacks passion for diving. I experienced no enthusiasm from their side at all. Lastly, I went to do the thresher shark dive with them twice. Both times we arrived as one of the latest boats at the dive site. That definitely not increases the chances on seeing the thresher sharks.. The positive reviews on this dive center are outdated and my experience with them was not good at all.

Unwelcoming. I booked (and paid for) a dive and was told that when I came the next day there would be a box with my kit. I arrived and was told vaguely to take a seat. After a while I went in search of the box but found nothing. I went back to the desk to ask, and was told to follow a guy. Once outside he just walked off without a word. I went to the equipment room and got the guys there to help me out. My weight belt had weights on the wrong way round so I had to redo it, to the apparent amusement of the staff. I then discovered by accident that the boat was boarding so grabbed my stuff and got on. I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't asked someone. We were briefed and buddied up. That was the first and only time I saw my dive partner. There was no time for a buddy check as we went off different sides of the boat. I always double check rental equipment before getting in the water so I was last in. The briefing was very hard to understand and it was only when in the water that it became obvious we were effectively doing a drift dive, with the boat picking us up at the other end. The dive was not good, and I ended early because of sinus problems (I had alerted the woman who I had booked with the day before). Fortunately I wasn't in any immediate difficulty, as it took a while to sort out and ascend with the guide. Conditions were not ideal, with a fair swell, but to be fair our boat arrived reasonably quickly. Another group with a different boat seemed to be having problems, blowing their whistle and waving fins to get seen. From start to finish it seemed like no one could be bothered. I had been told to bring my cert card as it would definitely be needed, but no one checked it. Even after ending the dive with a problem the DM didn't check if I was OK. This may just all be an extremely bad day at the office. Maybe it is normally different, but it left me really unimpressed.
