Withstanding the changing of times and seasons and of a world war and revolutions are two of the most enduring yet least known legacies of the Spanish colonization are the sun dials in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. From March 22 to September 23, 1841, the first sun dial in the Philippines was built by Father Juan Sorolla in what is now the compound of St. Augustine Church and School. Everything and everyone has a story to tell.

The original structure is located inside the school compound beside the church. A replica is located infront of the municipal hall.
A small chunk of great history
I don't know if sundials are still accurate but nice knowing. I remembered trigonometry topic when a mathematician measured earth's circumference using shadows.
Centennial historical landmark in tagudin. Nice place for taking selfies
A good place to see historical place
The first of its kind in the Philippines - a solar time detector built in 1841 by Fr. Juan Sorolla, an Augustinian Priest... It is located at the backside of St. Augustine Church and its replica is found in front of the Municipal Hall built in 1845...
I grew up around town and i never get tired of this historical sundial of my home town. I recommend this spot to all.
