Shrine Guitar is a maker of high quality acoustic guitars, ukuleles and bandurria located in the vicinity of the Mactan Shrine in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. Owned by Mr Efren Malingin, this guitar store not only offers a wide variety of handmade string instruments with some of the best tones around and at prices much lower than the more prominent guitar makers in Mactan, they also accept orders and repairs. I was able to visit the place yesterday looking for a 'big' guitar that sounds better and much louder than my mahogany dreadnought and I did have a very hard time deciding which one to buy because every guitar I tried was really good. I found a very alluring tenor ukulele made of solid spruce top and banago side and bottom and tried it - and lo and behold, it had the best tone I have ever heard from a ukulele and a very loud sound too so that I instantly fell in love with it and bought it instead of a guitar. I'm hoping to be back very soon.
