Sunis the Explorer

First concrete pavement in the Philippines that connected Pampanga to Manila. This bridge was built by engineering pioneer Sotero Baluyut based on his thesis at the University of Iowa in 1909. When he went back to the Philippines, Baluyut worked in the Bureau of Public Works and was responsible for a number of notable infrastructure projects such as this bridge which was named after him.
