another welcome addition to the growing number of vegan spots quezon city! this plant-based project that started out as a delivery service shares space with the very loudly colourful pookaberry, a cafe for omnivores. so it doesn't have a sign of its own. tried a few things during our first visit. the smokey broccoli was not so smokey. the batter was light and had crumbly texture. the garlic sauce it came with was very very garlicky. reminds us a bit of indulge pizza's vegan garlic sauce. we also asked for hot sauce and we got sriracha. the cashew kare kare was so so. preferred the peanut version of others nearby and the bagoong it came with didn't add much. for 50 php you can add toppings to your kare kare. we had 3: vegchon, battered tofu, and veg spam. the vegchon was good. but then again, it's now quite an established brand at this point. the other 2 were unremarkably average. perhaps only the vegchon goes with the kare kare, but the other 2 toppings went well with the garlic sauce and sriracha. the bbq was a bit on the salty side, and maybe a bit too sweet. the vinegar it came with didn't really help cut the salt and sweet, but it did go well with the vegchon. we wanted to rate them a bit lower than this, based on this first visit. but we want to give them another chance sincd they are a new vegan place and we haven't tried the rest of the menu. we do hope they do better. will update this post when we next visit. UPDATE: on another visit, we had the coco fish fingers, isaw, tofu skewers, tofu sisig, baecon and egg. everything was so so, except the baecon was the baecon was particularity disappointing. we wished there was more to the novelty of the coco fish fingers besides using dessicated coconut inatead of breadcrumbs. isaw and tofu skewers tended to be both a bit on the overtly sweet and salty side. but the tofu sisig was at least quite good.
