IMPACT is an international movement that was formed to address the problem of the increasing number of people with preventable disabilities globally. It was initiated by the three organizations, the United Nations Development Program UNDP, the World Health Organization WHO, and UNICEF or United Nations International Children's Fund with Melissa Wells as the first Director, working from the WHO Office in Geneva.This movement was galvanized after the presentation of the Leed's Castle Declaration to the UN General Assembly by Sir John Wilson,himself disabled,being blind from a childhood accident.
