Finally got the chance to dine in! Our family always order pancit with lechon here. They have delivery service that makes it convenient. The store itself is low-key but food is delicious and affordable.
i grew up in marikina, so when we wanted chicken, it was johnnys. This was the olden days when max was in QC only and KFC had one kiosk (which closed not soon after) in santa mesa. And mind you we were way poorer then so johnnys was the height of indulgence. So for me this is more a nostalgia trip and it is a craving for chicken. I found it tasted the same as it has always been, skin crispy, meat slightly over cooked (but still enjoyeable). My nephews could not guess the sauce but us oldtimers know it is a thinned down and sweetened banana ketchup lol. It was similar to maxs back in the day down to the coconut oil aftertaste and the condiments (the aforementioned banana ketchup based sauce) and the worcestershire sauce that is cheaper than the lea and perrins brand and the hot sauce. But not anymore since Maxs became a franchise joint. Now johnnys beats it hands down and with one leg tied to the other. It is not that johnnys became better just max became so much worse. Maxs gained a franchise but lost the tadte that made it famous. So if you are like me and want to re-live those moments when your dad took you to lunch and ordered a whole spring chicken just for you.... go to Johnnys. I can almost sense my dad chuckling beside me as i go through the chicken.
I love the chicken and chopsuey!!!
Good food at the pricepoint. Everything is made to order, so expect a longer wait time.
A place to go to when you don't feel eating at usual fast food chains. Other orders were not available during evenings.
Great fried chicken at reasonable priced
Fried chicken is like Max's friedchicken 1 whole chicken is just 300
