I visited the mini zoo two times already. It is here that I first saw the tiger and the famous yellow submarine. For my second visit I appreciate the animals from Africa, particularly the Safari Gallery. Although I am against in killing animals for the hobby, it made a place for the local tourist to see wild animals from around the world without going out of the country.

Located at Vigan, extra drive from City Center around 15 mins when the traffic is tight. I have been there several times. It must be on a traveler's list when going to Ilocos Sur. Kids would love the place. Though, its really hot when visiting in within March to May.
Had a great time at the Baluarte zoo. This is a great place to visit with the family, as there are a lot of different animals and species inside, which can make for an excellent learning opportunity for children. The area is very beautiful and some of the animals are friendly, even had the chance to feed the giraffes! I can only hope that the animals here are treated well despite being locked up in cages
Nice place, There are many kinds of animals and there's also a museum of wild animals!
One of a few zoo park that you know does not exploit animals for profit. Thougu the animals are sometimes caged and out of their natural habitat, you feel better to know that they are properly taken cared of and not being used by the owner for their personal gain. Highly recommended!
Baluarte is one of the excellent place in Ilocos Sur for your family and friends. Kids will surely enjoy riding on a shuttle while viewing the animals. There is no entrance fee. You can either walk inside or get a shuttle for only 50 pesos per head. Snacks, drinks and souvenirs are just beside the main entrance. Great location for picture taking.
Nice little zoo. Was raining but there are little shuttles that you can take from place to place. Top of the hill included a building filled with real stuffed animals with photos of the hunter who had hunted them. Personally thought that was strange to have in a zoo. There was also a small shop for snacks if you get hungry. Only 50 pesos per adult, 40 per child.
The Baluarte animal show is what drove the 5-star review. It's worth the wait and the visit. It gave us visitors a better appreciation of the animals and the trainers. The guest's interaction with the animals is exciting and exhilarating. A must if it's your first and only visit to Vigan.
