Loom-weaving was a legacy left to the family by an artisan namely as Sotera Militar Fernandez, one of the few pioneering weavers of pineapple fabric in Old Buswang, Kalibo. The stride of an artist to inspire others in creating natural-dye fabrics was passed on to the newer generations. The journey of her artwork captivated the hearts of her siblings, later on, passed to succeeding generations, and now her grandsons have fully embraced the call on continuing the craft. JAF Handicraft & Piña industry is a purposeful enterprise that envisions on being one of the top manufacturer and producer of hand-woven fabrics and garments. Main product materials such as pineapple fibers are locally yielded by the community, weaving by locals utilizing traditional loom whereas all steps are non-machine: from the cloth creation down to fabric weaving. Timeless processes were also maintained while providing innovation using different materials, and adding on intricate designs.
