This museum will show you the history of the province. It will introduce you of how it started as a small town up until how the livelihood progressed to a successful province we called now as Davao. You'll be accompanied by a guide all throughout the tour. Lot of tribes happened to live there back in the old days. The displays inside the museum, from vintage photos up to the real costumes worn by those tribes gave me chill. I liked the simplicity of this museum. There's no need for modern technoz to emphasize it's worth. The displays are enough to amaze me.. it feeds me the message naturally. The staffs were all approachable and accommodating too! *Taking picture is not really allowed in there; but there's few areas on which they let you take photos with.

Enjoyed my visit. I was greeted by a friendly student intern who toured me around and explained the various exhibits. She gladly answered my questions too. The museum was not big but it was enough for me to learn many things about Davao and made me appreciate it more. Can't take pictures of the exhibits inside but can take pictures of the art exhibit.

My Exerience

It was great experience to witness the history of Davao but the place was transferred near Philippine Women's College that is smaller compare to the old location.

I don't know if Google will take down the pin or not. But the museum has moved from this pin. Not sure where though, some local said it moved to Philippine women's but I am not sure where that is. So yeah, the spot doesn't have the museum anymore. Don't be fooled. Thank you!

Lovely museum shedding light on Davao's kind of recent history and general culture of this part of Mindanao. I was blessed to be assigned a friendly female guide with great english and enthusiasm.

Misc & Extras

If you want to know the history and culture of Davao, come and visit this place, the entrance is free with tour guide inside. There are area which picture taking is not allowed. Typical thing you can see in every museum, very old picture, remain of old equipment, antiques things. The 2 stories museum had been design so well inside. Thier is a cannon outside.

Admittance to this museum is free. If you want to learn about the people, culture, history, and art of Davao, this is the best place start before exploring the rest of the city (you can still start with the eagle sanctuary, malagos gardens, and crodocile farm before this though). They provide a guided tour, the place is composed of two floors. Part of the 2nd floor is an exhibit of a specific Davao artist. They do exhibit for one artist at a time and rotate the exhibits weekly or monthly (not sure).
