visited the shrine Nov.2020 and it is already open for public who wishes to attend the holly mass, meditation and adoration prayer Theotokos Shrine in Perrelos in Carcar. The famous shrine houses the giant statue of Our Lady of Family as well as the Theotokos icon (which means Mother of God in Greek). In 1992 construction of the shrine started immediately. During construction, a farmer found something. It was an antique base which is used to hold the receptacle in which the consecrated Host is exposed for adoration. The base bears the monogram AM (Ave Maria.) It was later discovered (and authenticated by a Vatican Iconographer) that the base was a 15th Century Byzantine religious relic.

I went there for a several times, and it is still nice and very quiet. Also we can go there if there is a mass.

Serene, conducive for prayers and meditations. Clean. This is where the "dancing sun" of Cebu started the last century.

The great thing about this shrine is that it is located atop a hill facing the sea. Visitors would truly appreciate the cool sea breeze, specially during hot days. Furthermore, the church located inside the shrine has a lot of birds. I find it relaxing to listen to these birds' chirping after praying the rosary. The only bad side to this shrine are noisy tourists, if you're inside the shrine, please don't make too much noise. Tip 1: If you're traveling by bus, make sure to hydrate yourself first because there is no canteen in the premise and that there is a 5 - minute hike towards the top of the hill. (There are a few convenient stores located near the entrance) Tip 2: Wear proper attire. No shorts aloud. Tip 3. For full experience, pray the rosary inside the shrine. Its very renewing
